Glass furniture

Do you know the major advantage of glass furniture? It is not only the most progressive, up-to-date and stylish décor solution; it is its magic transparency that allows your guests figuratively to see you through. Your most precious photographs or memorable things are always handy to look at without opening cupboards or cabinets. Moreover, they will never get covered with dust behind the glass. Thus, decorators and furniture manufacturers all over the world have drawn their attention to it and made glass furniture their major trump card.

Glass possesses a wide range of physical characteristics not found in any other substance. It can be transparent, translucent, or opaque. It can be made in a variety of fascinating colors and thickness. It is highly appreciated for its durability and heat safety. This makes it an outstanding material which is intensively exploited in modern furniture production.

The brightness of glass will visually make your kitchen more clean and sparkling. Glass furniture is easy to clean and look after. It is perfectly practical for every day use, not to speak of its elegant and modern look, and remains as beautiful as the day it was purchased. Glass is also scratch resistant, which makes it an excellent material for bathroom wall tiles, kitchen wall tiles, vessels and bar counters.

Designers adore the versatility of glass and consider it the primary material for home when the main purpose is to surprise, to astonish and to instill a real stroke of creativity and modernity into your décor. Basically, glass is used in the majority of our production, including glass coffee tables, glass TV stands, glass desks, glass kitchenware, glass vessels and glass bar units.

Glass provides beauty and functionality that is not possible with other materials and thus has carved its legal place in the hottest trends of modern design.

I love the idea of using glass pieces in the home. I have a glass coffee table and an end table that are beautiful and functional. The greatest appeal for me is that these pieces don’t take up “visual space” like a solid piece does.

Most furniture with glass components that are not safety glass is unsafe. Having spent over forty years in the glass industry, I have beautiful glass furniture in my home, all of it safety glass. I have served as an expert witness on too many cases where people were killed or injured by laceration with shards of broken annealed glass from furniture. I pray the demand for that service will diminish. This nation needs mandatory safety standards for use of glass in furniture. Meanwhile, buyer beware – very wary.

  1. Glass furniture is often a modern approach to decor. I try to use it as much as possible with a simplistic approach. I find glass work well with that style.
